The fire department was formed by a group of community members called the New Hope Improvement Association. The NHIA began raising funds to build the original fire station and a community building, as well as the funds to purchase equipment. The original fire station is what currently stands under the community building while the two lower bays and living quarters were built in 1999. Station 2 was built in 1975. We currently work three paid personnel 24 hours a day. There are three full-time shift officers that work a rotating 24-hour schedule and the Deputy Chief of Operations works a 40-hour week. Volunteers supplement staffing by spending time at the station (volunteer duty hours) or respond to calls from their home.

Fire Chiefs Past to Present

Stan Whitfield 1972-1976
Linwood Crabtree 1976-1980
Mike Tapp 1980-1989
Mike Bordeaux 1989-1991
Cliff Carroll 1991-1993
Mike Bordeaux 1993-1995
Walter Mills 1995-1996
Mike Bordeaux 1996-2001
Eddie Walker 2001-2002
Mike Bordeaux 2002-2006
Bob Dennis 2006-2009
Mike Bordeaux 2009
Mike Tapp 2010-2017
Mike Bordeaux 2018
Charles Bowden 2019-2024
William Blankenship 2024-Present

Who We are Who We Are New Hope Volunteer Fire Department of Orange County was formed in 1972 due to increasing population and rumors of an interstate being built.
