We are currently hiring for Fire Captain, Fire Driver/Engineer and Firefighter. Please see each job posting below. 

Position: Full Time Fire Captain
  • Whether under direction of the Fire Chief, other superior officer or acting of his/her own volition, the Fire Captain performs responsible management, technical and administrative work in commanding and coordinating fire emergency operations, helps with the training of firefighters, helps with fire prevention, helps with general facility/equipment maintenance, helps with public education and other related programs and services.

  • Respond promptly to fire, medical, and other emergency calls, assessing the situation, and taking appropriate action to mitigate risks and save lives. 

  • Perform firefighting operations, including hose handling, ventilation, search and rescue, and the operation of fire apparatus and equipment. 

  • Administer first aid, CPR, and basic life support to individuals in medical emergencies, providing initial care until advanced life support arrives. 

  • Participate in ongoing training to maintain and enhance firefighting and emergency response abilities. 

  • Maintain and inspect apparatus, equipment, tools, station and property to ensure they are in proper working condition, reporting any issues for repair or replacement. 

The requirements for the Captain position are as follows: 

  • North Carolina Class B License
  • NC Firefighter Certification
  • NC EMT Certification
  • NC Technical Rescuer
  • NC Emergency Vehicle Driver Certification
  • NC Driver/Operator Pumps Certification
  • NC Fire Officer 1
  • NC Fire Instructor 1
  • NIMS 700, 800, 100, 200, 300 Certifications

Preferred Requirements:

  • Five years of experience with a paid organization 
  • At least two years in a supervisory role
  • NC Instructor II
  • NC Fire Officer II

Salary: $52,846.00

All positions receive holiday pay for 10 holidays, and time and a half for hours worked over 40/week.

Shifts: 3/4 Rotating Schedule “on-off-on-off-on-off-off-off-off”

Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a medical evaluation, drug test and criminal background check. 

Position: Part Time Driver/Engineer
  • Part-time drivers are responsible for working a day-time, night-time, or 24-hour shift.  As a part-time driver, you will play a crucial role in sustaining the department by ensuring the safety and well-being of the New Hope and surrounding community by responding to emergency calls, performing firefighting and rescue operations, and providing medical assistance and public service.   
  • Respond promptly to fire, medical, and other emergency calls, assessing the situation, and taking appropriate action to mitigate risks and save lives. 
  • Perform firefighting operations, including hose handling, ventilation, search and rescue, and the operation of fire apparatus and equipment. 
  • Administer first aid, CPR, and basic life support to individuals in medical emergencies, providing initial care until advanced life support arrives. 
  • Participate in ongoing training to maintain and enhance firefighting and emergency response abilities. 
  • Maintain and inspect apparatus, equipment, tools, station and property to ensure they are in proper working condition, reporting any issues for repair or replacement. 
  • Drivers are also responsible for performing the duties of an officer in their absence. 

The requirements for part-time drivers/engineers are as follows: 

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • NC Firefighter Certification or equivalent (NFPA Firefighter I&II, IFSAC, or Pro Board accredited)
  • Minimum of NC EMT Certification
  • NC Technical Rescuer
  • NC Driver Operator Intro to Pumps and Basic Pumps
  • NIMS 700, 800, 100, & 200 Certifications

Preferred Requirements:

  • NC Technical Rescuer 
  • NC TR Vehicle Rescue

Salary: $14 an hour

All positions receive holiday pay for 10 holidays, and time and a half for hours worked over 40/week. 

Annual contribution to NC State Firefighters’ Association Pension 

Day Shift: 8 am to 6 pm
Night Shift: 6 pm to 8 am

  • Copies of all your Fire or Emergency Service Related Certifications (all certifications) 
  • Copy of your EMT certification 
  • Copy of your NC driver’s license
